The SIGMA range is expanding: Welcome to SIGMA 125!

After SIGMA 95 and 115 in 2019, TEAK SEA announces the launch of SIGMA 125. Note that SIGMA can already be manufactured in 105 on request.

The development of SIGMA 125 went hand in hand with an exploration of the limits of SIGMA 115. SIGMAs have this unique ability to be configurable in a variety of ways.

SIGMA 115 was initially configured with 1 round trip 16 / 17.5 rubber band and 3 extra 16mm pairs. The initial energy was between 450 and 475J, or that of an Azimuth 120. No recoil, good precision, good impact. Our ambassadors have started using it and making some great catches.

It turned out to be possible, using a larger diameter shaft, 8.5mm, to add 1 or 2 additional rubber bands to reach 550 / 650J. TEAK SEA has extensively studied the settings to achieve this, while maintaining a quality shot.

Yan-Li was one of the first to benefit from this set-up. The result was there.

SIGMA 125 has benefited from these developments, being automatically mounted in 1 + 4 and an 8.5mm shaft. Here too, it was possible to ramp up by adding an extra rubber band, boosting the system from 620 to 750J, or the energy of a T8 145 MH, but lighter and rear handle. Using 9mm shaft is also possible.

This speargun beat all the other Teak Sea models available to me in terms of speed of fire and range during instrumented pool testing. At sea, SIGMA 125 has confirmed with shots at tuna that I wouldn’t have dared to do before. Mackerels are also a prime target for this speargun. https://youtu.be/lsWImKCDxR8

Its maneuverability is relative, but in open water it offers stability and a field of sight which allow to perfectly align the target. The biggest difficulty with this type of weapon is not to ramp up but to maintain excellent accuracy, from 2m to the range limit. This point is particularly difficult to achieve, as our tests on about ten competing models have shown.

A key point is the rigidity of the barrel. The latter is generously reinforced with carbon and we have substituted for the round-trip rubber band a pair of short 19 or 20mm, easy to load with the de-multiplication. The upper surface of the speargun is thus considerably reinforced, the aiming sight is completely clear, and the speargun easier to use and specially to load, thanks to the absence of pre-tension.

This weapon is my go-to choice when the big ones arrive, from June to November in the Indo-Pacific waters: Spanish mackerel, big solitaires, dogtooth tunas and big GTs.

I even use two: One one reel, in 1 + 4. One on breakaway, in 1 + 5. And vice versa!

We have worked on many ergonomic points so that the complexity of the construction would not be not synonymous with fragility. All components are proven and chosen for their simplicity so that almost anything can be repaired with lines and knots. I don’t hesitate to go with it in trips far in the Moluccas. I am confident in it.

The next step will be a 135 with a 9 / 9.5mm harpoon, to get closer to the Doctor Fish 145.
