Underwater Ballistics:
Myths and Scope Secrets
Myths and Scope Secrets
Of all the features that make the performance or relevance of choosing a spearfishing crossbow, one of the most common is the range. However, in view of the increasing diversity of firing systems (multi-stranded weapons, arrows of different diameters, drums of different types), the conventional markers, such as barrel length or diameter of bungee, are often not enough.
“What is the scope of my crossbow?”
“How much will I gain in range with a second sandow?”
“If I opt for shorter sandows, what gain will I get?”
“The more I chase deep, the more power I lose: Why?”
“Does an arrow of large diameter make me lose scope?”
etc ….
These questions are recurring when discussing “technical”, whether during the purchase of a weapon or during modifications envisaged en route to evolve its crossbow. It is possible to answer rationally most of these questions, which are in fact less trivial than they seem. And if a good theoretical analysis makes it possible to roughen the subject, the master word is above all … experimentation! So here is a little trip in the complex but exciting world of underwater ballistics …
